About The Position

This position assists Financial Reporting Leadership in developing and maintaining accounting systems along with recording and analyzing financial transactions and preparing financial reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Finance field required.
  • Minimum of four to six years’ experience in Accounting.
  • Mastery of basic math and U.S. GAAP accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work well with others, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT) as provided by the Kentucky Department of Insurance and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) along with US Generally Accepting Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of Company financial projections and maintenance of analytical models.
  • Prepares timely and accurate reports and analyses.
  • Identifies and researches variances within journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting, and proposes potential solutions to resolve.
  • Assists with developing, maintaining, and documenting accounting controls, procedures, and workflows to ensure accurate and consistent applications of accounting functions.
  • Assists with annual budget process and preparation of quarterly and annual budget versus actual reports.
  • Understands and develops proficient use of accounting systems and related applications.
  • Assists with audits (internal and external) by providing documentation and responding to questions and requests.
  • Assists with the implementation of new procedures and improvements to processes due to operational, legal, accounting, or regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with company-wide project work as required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance as employee must physically be in the office.
