About The Position

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies are searching for an experienced financial reporting and technical accounting professional to become a vital part of our expanding finance team. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for overseeing financial reporting preparation, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards, and upholding the highest levels of financial accuracy and transparency. This role is based in our Palo Alto, CA office and reports directly to our Sr. Lead of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally blending public accounting (Big 4 preferred) with high-growth industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Deep technical proficiency in U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance, with a proven ability to analyze complex issues and draft comprehensive technical accounting memos.
  • Demonstrated experience in public company financial reporting
  • Proficiency in SAP (or similar large-scale ERPs) and reporting software such as Workiva.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects within a global corporate environment, effectively managing stakeholders across diverse time zones and functions.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial concepts into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, including footnotes and supporting memos.
  • Ensure all internal and external reporting remains in compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and SOX requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive supporting schedules for annual audits and manage the completion of annual disclosure checklists.
  • Manage the reporting calendar to ensure all critical internal and external financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Maintain financial reporting structures within SAP, including the management and optimization of reporting hierarchies to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and transparency across the organization.
  • Provide clear, actionable technical accounting advice to cross-functional stakeholders to guide business decisions.
  • Research and document accounting positions for transactions, such as stock-based compensation, debt/equity, and joint venture ownership entities.
  • Support the corporate accounting functions, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement reviews.
  • Manage complex allocations and ownership reporting.
  • Proactively identify and implement automation tools and best practices to streamline reporting cycles and improve departmental efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, Treasury, and International Accounting teams to ensure data integrity and operational synergy.
