About The Position

The Financial Reporting & Tax Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial accuracy and integrity of a fast-paced manufacturing organization with global operations. This position works closely with the U.S. leadership team and collaborates regularly with the German headquarters. This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and international requirements, and supporting timely communication of financial results across both domestic and global teams. The position also includes oversight of tax-related filings across multiple jurisdictions. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, an understanding of manufacturing cost structures, and the ability to grow into a more advanced accounting role within a multinational environment. The role works closely with the CFO and global finance teams.

Requirements

  • Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer
  • Regular, full-time position requiring a minimum in-office schedule of 40 hours per week; occasional travel required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 3–5 years of accounting, financial reporting, or manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with tight reporting deadlines and regular cross-functional collaboration.
  • Flexibility to support early morning or late afternoon meetings aligned with German time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP; support global consolidation by coordinating reporting timelines, schedules, liquidity forecasts, variance explanations, and group accounting requirements with German headquarters.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses; maintain the general ledger in collaboration with the Assistant Controller and ensure the accuracy of financial data across systems.
  • Analyze manufacturing cost components, including standard costs, variances, inventory valuation, work in process, raw materials, production-related expenses, and cost of goods sold; reconcile balances between ERP and financial systems.
  • Partner with plant operations, supply chain, production management, HR, IT, and global finance teams to understand cost drivers, operational impacts, reporting needs, and opportunities to improve financial visibility.
  • Maintain property and fixed asset records; prepare financial data, schedules, and analysis for the CFO; assist with budgeting, forecasting inputs, and ad hoc financial projects.
  • Provide external tax professionals with accurate financial data and supporting schedules; monitor filing deadlines across many jurisdictions, including income tax, sales tax, 401(k) plans, tangible property tax, other required filings; prepare selected tax filings as assigned.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and explanations; ensure compliance with internal control requirements and assist in maintaining accounting policies that meet U.S. and global standards.
  • Identify and support reporting process improvements, ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and cross-border data flow efficiencies; develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
  • Proficiency in English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition, with strong communication skills in speaking, listening, reading comprehension, and writing.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing cost structures, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and ERP-based financial processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments, time zones, cultures, and levels of the organization.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with financial reporting tools and department-related software.
