About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a creative and student-centered Fine Arts Teacher (K–8) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas for the 2026–2027 school year. The Fine Arts Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging instruction that develops students’ artistic expression, creativity, and appreciation for the visual and performing arts. The ideal candidate will create a structured and inclusive classroom environment where scholars can explore artistic techniques, build confidence, and connect creative expression to their academic experience. AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-informed teaching practices.

Requirements

  • Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Education, or a related field
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
  • Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset
  • Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
  • Successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Nevada state requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience teaching fine arts in a K–8 or middle school setting
  • Experience working in Title I or high-need school environments
  • Experience supporting English Language Learners (ELLs)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned fine arts instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Nevada Academic Content Standards.
  • Teach foundational concepts in visual arts, creative expression, and artistic techniques.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
  • Incorporate projects and activities that promote creativity, cultural awareness, and artistic exploration.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Encourage student creativity, collaboration, and confidence in artistic expression.
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and school leadership to support cross-curricular and school-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to school events, performances, or showcases that highlight student creativity.
  • Use student data and feedback to continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
  • Support opportunities for families to engage with student artistic work and performances.
