About The Position

JCPenney Logistics and Fulfillment has a great full-time opportunity for you! The Jewelry Processor position is responsible for identifying, sorting, and processing fine jewelry in a non-retail environment. Position Function: Diversified analytical and administrative support.

Requirements

  • Ability to decipher precious metals from non-precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, other materials)
  • Ability to use sieve plates for sorting stone parcels
  • Ability to sort stones by color and clarity
  • Ability to use tools to decipher differences between natural stones, lab grown, and other synthetic stones
  • Ability to cut shanks and extract larger stones from jewelry using pliers
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to keep track of metal and stone inventory
  • Comfortable using magnification (up to 30x) to view stones, metal stamps, vendor hallmarks, engraving/laser inscriptions on jewelry
  • Familiar with common jewelry weight conversions (grams, carats, karats, troy ounces)
  • Familiar with how to operate a basic ultrasonic cleaner
  • Ability to determine which prescribed steps to take to process problem cartons and to resolve identified discrepancies.
  • Frequent 0 - 30lbs; Occasional 30 - 75lbs

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and prepares jewelry for proper disposition
  • Identifying and separating based on metal content
  • Identifying and separating based on stone type
  • Sorting based on size, color, or clarity
  • Sorting and preparing merchandise into sellable lots
  • Entering appropriate information into inventory systems as required.
  • Checks, inspects, and logs data into the appropriate inventory systems to reflect the quantity and condition of merchandise received or distributed.
  • Takes necessary steps to prepare merchandise for inventory and distribution.
  • Inspects merchandise visually to determine disposition, as assigned.
  • Enters/logs appropriate data into on-line systems as required.
  • Packing, unpacking, banding, and assembling merchandise.
  • Sorting and routing merchandise.
  • Weighing merchandise.
  • Moving merchandise manually from one location to another.
  • Picking, labeling, and scanning, as required.
  • Partners with senior leadership to determine best course of recovery on scrap merchandise
  • Moves cartons from one location to another, either manually or mechanically
  • Checks and codes merchandise and data.
  • Operates simple warehouse equipment, as necessary.
  • Performs other related manual tasks, as assigned.
