About The Position

ABOUT FETZER ARCHITECTURAL WOODWORKING With over 100 years in the woodworking industry, our craftsmen have perfected the art of architectural millwork and woodwork design. From a small cabinet shop in downtown Salt Lake City, we have grown into one of the largest millwork companies in the nation. The trademark of Fetzer craftsmanship can be found in buildings worldwide. Summary: Wood finishing, ranging from pigmented and dye stains to solid color lacquers, water-based lacquer, and poly finishes in a wood-related application. Will use air-applied and wipe-on stains and should have experience matching tones. Knowledge of how to use and maintain essential spray equipment is preferred. Being a self-starter who can work independently or as part of a small team is essential. Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings, and willing to help in other shop areas as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience in wood finishing, pigmented and dye stains, solid-color lacquers, water-based lacquer, and poly finishes, in a wood-related application.
  • Experience in air-applied and wipe-on stains preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders and blueprint drawings or receives instructions from the supervisor regarding the project.
  • Smooths surfaces (scuff-sand) and prepares surfaces for painting.
  • Selects premixed paints or matches finish tones to samples, providing tonal continuity throughout the project.
  • Uses provided equipment to paint, spray, or finish the project. Will use air-applied and wipe-on stains.
  • Pays great attention to detail and uses an artistic ability to match stain tones.
  • Must be willing and able to help with various other duties in the Finishing Department (sanding, prepping, etc.).
  • Clearly understand and have the ability to perform the finishing process unique to each product/work order.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
