About The Position

As a Fire-Rescue Logistics Coordinator, you will support Fire and EMS operations at both Reagan National (DCA) and Dulles International Airports (IAD). You will oversee logistics activities for Fire and EMS across both Airports Authority airports by coordinating the planning, procurement, storage, inventory, and distribution of uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency medical supplies, suppression equipment, and related materials. The position manages logistics programs including equipment specifications, inspection and testing schedules, maintenance and repair coordination, inventory systems, and records management to ensure operational readiness and compliance performs administrative and operational support functions in support of the Fire and Rescue Department’s daily and mission-critical needs. Serves in the Fire and Rescue Department at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Reagan National Airport (DCA).

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in coordinating or directly assisting with a logistics and/or inventory management system or working in a full-time professional-level position involving the acquisition of materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Knowledge of the interface and the ability to coordinate between public safety and logistics, supply, and warehousing functions.
  • Ability to forecast equipment and material needs and to procure needed resources.
  • Strong organization, writing, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining various software applications, including Microsoft Office products, with the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writing.
  • A high school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
  • A state driver’s license in good standing.
  • Operates vehicle landside and airside (requires AOA permit).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a fire department environment.
  • Experience working with logistics management software.
  • Experience as a Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (COTR).
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards on firefighting turnout gear.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the planning, procurement, storage, inventory, and distribution of all Fire Rescue Department uniforms, personal protective equipment, emergency medical supplies and equipment, and suppression supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with budget preparation for fire and EMS supplies; provides accurate estimates; monitors expenditures; applies cost-saving techniques.
  • Coordinates or assists with the development of logistics-related contracts and agreements.
  • Develops and maintains equipment specifications and testing/inspection schedule for: equipment, hose, appliances, hazmat supplies, uniforms, bunker gear, PPE, air packs and apparatus.
  • Drafts and updates policies and procedures related to the department’s logistics.
  • Communicates and meets with vendors to obtain quotes, place orders, and to resolve issues as necessary.
  • Coordinates the maintenance programs for small engine equipment, turnout gear cleaning and repair, and small tool repairs.
  • Prepares presentations pertaining to logistics as needed and presents to the required staff.
  • Coordinates the work of any staff assigned to assist with logistics, including inventory management systems and inventories of all equipment and supplies.
  • Develops and maintains accurate, efficient division-related records.
  • Performs general administrative work as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, tracking expenses, entering computer data, processing inventory records changes, etc.
  • Manages a corporate Purchasing Card in compliance with established Airports Authority guidelines and within budget.
  • Serves as a Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative to support requisition, procurement, tracking, and delivery of materials and supplies.
  • Operates pickup trucks, vans, and other vehicles to deliver equipment and supplies to fire stations and other locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
