About The Position

Night shift premium offered ($2/hr). Must be able to work 4:30pm – 1:30am along with any required overtime which may include weekends. Summary: The Fitter is responsible for assembling structural frameworks and housings from raw material. They prepare and fabricate metal components for the welding process.

Requirements

  • Associates or Technical School.
  • Minimum of one-year of related experience and/or training.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
  • Follows processes and standard procedures.
  • Hands on, get it done attitude.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools.
  • Work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
  • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
  • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Review any parts received from kitting area and compare the parts to the print.
  • Fabricating and revising fixtures, jigs, and gauges.
  • Operate and/or use forklifts, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
