About The Position

Night shift premium offered ($2/hr). Must be able to work 4:30pm – 1:30am along with any required overtime which may include weekends. Summary: The Fitter is responsible for assembling structural frameworks and housings from raw material. They prepare and fabricate metal components for the welding process.

Requirements

Associates or Technical School.
Minimum of one-year of related experience and/or training.
Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
Follows processes and standard procedures.
Hands on, get it done attitude.
Uses hand tools and power tools.
Work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.
Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
Review any parts received from kitting area and compare the parts to the print.
Fabricating and revising fixtures, jigs, and gauges.
Operate and/or use forklifts, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
