PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: As a Fleet Analyst, your primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and compliance of fleet operations. You will help build a strong safety and compliance culture at both the distribution center (DC) and corporate levels to ensure at-fault fleet accidents are minimized, risks are mitigated, we are compliant with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, and drivers and the public are kept safe.

Requirements

  • 3 years+ of Safety experience in related transportation industry.
  • 2 years+ of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance.
  • Previously provided safety compliance to both a local and non-local workforce or trucking fleet.
  • Experience handling resistance to change in process, procedures, and policies to arrive at cooperation.
  • Experience in fleet safety, establishing strong fleet safety behaviors throughout an entity, championing safety and DOT best practices, and creating/influencing a culture of safety.

  • Additional languages – bilingual Mandarin or Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and Implementing Fleet Safety Policies Develop, execute, and maintain effective driver safety policies and training programs in compliance with FMCSA/DOT and company safety policies, including proper usage of the telematic system. Maintain and enforce emergency response procedures for vehicle accidents, Out of Service (OOS) orders, and severe weather response ensuring drivers are trained on proper protocols. Continuously review the driver and fleet scorecard to track overall driver behavior, incident rates, training completion and compliance performance/trends. Work with the DC General Manager (GM) and HR to report and monitor non-compliant drivers or at-fault accidents to determine appropriate corrective action/discipline pursuant to company policies.
  • Conducting Regular Safety and Compliance Inspections and Audits Perform routine inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company fleet safety and compliance policies and ensure proper documentation. Ensure corrective actions from inspections are closed out effectively, within the required timeframe and with proper documentation and external approvals, as needed. Coordinate with external auditors (e.g. DOT) during official inspections and audits, ensuring readiness and proper documentation. Provide detailed audit reports, risk assessments and analytics highlighting trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducting Safety and Compliance Training and Creating Awareness Programs Develop and conduct regularly scheduled DC fleet safety meetings, establish driver safety and compliance training programs and modify as appropriate based on risk assessments. Develop plans to reduce and prevent at-fault fleet accidents by monitoring violations identified via the telematics system and analyzing trend data to identify additional training and areas of improvement.
  • Fleet Accident Investigation and Reporting In conjunction with DC fleet management, investigate and track all at-fault fleet accidents to meet both company and FMCSA/DOT requirements, including post-accident drug/alcohol testing and re-training. Maintain and update an accidents tracker, identifying trends over time to support proactive safety initiatives and reduce recurrence. In conjunction with DC fleet management, perform root cause analysis of at-fault fleet accidents and report out findings to insurance carrier and appropriate individuals and/or departments.
  • Ensuring Regulatory Compliance in Fleet Operations Monitor driver compliance with fleet safety policies, training, and adherence to FMCSA/DOT regulations. Collaborate with HR and DC fleet to address any safety-related concerns or violations and support corrective action efforts and ensure all required documents (e.g. medical cards, MVRs etc.) are current and compliant. Schedule and conduct regular ride-along sessions to ensure driver compliance, and positive safety habits, and identify challenges/trends. Stay up to date on changes in FMCSA, DOT and other fleet related regulations and proactively update procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Fleet Risk Assessment and Management Identify potential fleet safety and compliance risks both DC specific or company-wide. Prioritize risk mitigation based on impact and likelihood. Monitor and review implemented mitigation actions to ensure effective and implement additional risk mitigation actions as required.
