About The Position

The Fleet Upfitter is responsible for installing, modifying, and customizing vehicles in a company’s fleet to meet specific operational requirements. This role involves mechanical, electrical, and fabrication work including installation of toolboxes, shelving, lighting, GPS systems, safety equipment, and other accessories.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required, technical school training a plus.
1–3 years of experience in vehicle upfitting, automotive mechanics, or related fields.
Familiarity with 12V electrical systems, wiring, and electronics.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

Welding and fabrication experience.
Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations related to fleet vehicles.
Experience with commercial fleet vehicles (vans, trucks, utility vehicles).

Responsibilities

Install, assemble, and modify equipment and accessories in fleet vehicles (e.g., lighting, ladder racks, shelving, decals, electronics).
Interpret work orders, diagrams, and manufacturer instructions to perform accurate installations.
Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
Perform inspections and quality control to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with installed equipment.
Maintain accurate records of installations and services performed.
Communicate with team members, supervisors, and vendors regarding parts, procedures, and timelines.
Keep work area clean, organized, and in compliance with safety regulations.
Assist in fleet maintenance as needed, including oil changes, tire rotations, and general vehicle prep.
Assist Mechanics with Part pickups and drop offs
Keep Fleet yard organized for better inventory
