The Flex Technician (Flex Tech) is a highly adaptable, cross-trained production role designed to support operational continuity, workforce agility, and throughput stability across the organization. This role is critical to ensuring coverage during staffing gaps, demand fluctuations, and ramp periods. Flex Technicians are expected to develop proficiency across multiple functional areas within their assigned value stream and progressively cross-train across all value streams to maximize training efficiency, workforce flexibility, and gap coverage. The Flex Technician role is structured across three levels (Flex Tech I, II, and III). All new Flex Technician hires will enter the role at Flex Tech I. Progression to higher levels is based on demonstrated training competency completion, operational proficiency, and relevant experience with an accompanied pay increase. Flex Technician Levels Overview Flex Technician I Entry-level All newly hired Flex Technicians begin at this level Developing proficiency in multiple core functions within a single assigned value stream Actively completing required training competencies and certifications Provides operational coverage within the value stream under guidance from Leads or Certified Trainers Beginning exposure to cross-training opportunities Flex Technician II Intermediate level Demonstrates proficiency across most or all functions within the assigned value stream Successfully completed required training competencies for advancement Actively cross-trained across multiple value streams Independently supports coverage needs, ramp activity, and staffing gaps Serves as a functional resource during transitions between work areas Flex Technician III Advanced level Demonstrates advanced proficiency across all functional areas within the assigned value stream Fully cross-trained across all value streams Provides critical coverage during high-impact staffing gaps, ramp-ups, and operational disruptions Serves as a back up line lead in times of high volume and leadership absences Supports onboarding, job shadowing, and knowledge transfer efforts in partnership with Leads and Certified Trainers Advancement between levels is not tenure-based and is contingent upon documented training completion, demonstrated competencies, sustained performance, and operational readiness.
