About The Position

The Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association is the premier professional home for flexographic and package printing professionals. As the only association solely dedicated to flexographic advancement, FTA serves as the essential hub where technology meets talent and ideas turn into impact. Direct FLEXO Magazine strategy and development and ensure delivery of industry news content for the bi-weekly FLEXO eNews. Oversee all editorial and graphic design to cohesively, effectively, and efficiently produce the eight annual editions of the magazine. Ensure production timelines and processes from start to finish for each edition and deliver a high-quality publication to the industry. Partner with the Director of Business Development, Marketing Team, designer (TypeJar), and printer (Cummings) to deliver the latest news, member stories and other critical content to the industry.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Communications/Journalism, PR, Marketing or related field (Required)
  • 5+ years magazine experience with progressive increase in responsibilities
  • Excellent Grammar and Writing Skills
  • Comprehensive grasp of AP/publication style, copyright policies, proofreading practices and marks
  • Proficiency in Mac environment, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with In-design, Photoshop, Automated Workflow Tools, WordPress, HTML helpful
  • Travel will be required as needed
  • Regular use of arms, hands and fingers to type, reach and grasp
  • Regularly sits; Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Effective communicator (verbal and written) in English; other languages attractive but not required
  • Deadline oriented
  • High volume/reliable performer in remote settings
  • Flexibility to work extended hours/weekends as required

Responsibilities

  • Develop the concepts, themes, and content to support and achieve the strategic goals and objectives for all elements of the FLEXO Business Unit, including editorial, layout and design, circulation, production, eNews delivery, and content development.
  • Partner with the FLEXO Publisher (FTA President) to ensure alignment with the magazine’s board-approved strategic plan and philosophy.
  • Identify FLEXO magazine content needs in accordance with the 2026 Issue Planner and adapt/modify as needed throughout the year, including prospecting for potential story leads/contributing authors, proposing assignments and hand-off follow-through to staff, and identifying and writing feature articles/news pieces.
  • Work with volunteers to contribute technical articles and features as well as ideate new content and story ideas that aim to impress and delight the reader.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to ensure inclusion and placement of all magazine and eNews advertising and support his recruitment of sponsored content.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of FLEXO eNews Industry News every two weeks in partnership with the Marketing Team and the Director of Business Development.
  • Support the FLEXO Advisory Group which consists of volunteer leaders who will help advise on industry and technical content needed to ensure a strong focus on flexo and the broader package printing industry within the pages of the magazine.
  • Review/oversee revision of page proofs in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Route bluelines, coordinate necessary corrections, and sign off each issue to press.
  • Serve as principal liaison with all FLEXO Magazine vendors (e.g., TypeJar, Cummings, USPS).
  • Manage FLEXO related tasks and timelines in Monday.com.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
