About The Position

Are you passionate about applying your flight dynamics and controls skills to the solution of novel problems? The flight dynamics & controls team is responsible for the design, implementation and validation of our aircraft models, simulation toolchains as well as control laws. As an intern you will get exposure and be supporting all those disciplines.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s or advanced degree program in EE/ME or similar
• Good knowledge of aircraft flight dynamics, stability and controls
• Knowledge of modelling complex, nonlinear physical systems, aerodynamics and aircraft flight dynamics
• Good skills in MATLAB/Simulink and Excel
• Able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

• Experience with other aircraft modelling and visualization tools (e.g., X-Plane, JSBSim)
• Experience with remote controlled aircraft (fixed wing or rotorcraft)
• Coding skills (Python, C/C++)

Responsibilities

• Develop flight dynamics modelling strategies and methodologies
• Develop the aircraft plant model and aerodynamic database
• Define and quantify model limitations and uncertainties
• Closely collaborate with aerodynamics, controls and mechanical design teams to rapidly iterate on designs
• Integrate in house and third-party models of system components into the full aircraft simulation model
• Conduct Hardware- and Software-in-the-loop simulations
• Support control system design and validation
• Support test method and test rig design as well as test execution
