Together, let’s redefine what is possible in orbit and beyond! Terran Orbital is seeking a motivated Flight Software Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Program Engineering, the Flight Software Engineering Intern will support improvements to our software development tools, automation, and version‑control environment. This role is hands‑on and ideal for students interested in C++ programming, software tooling, and aerospace software workflows.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Able to work full time, onsite in Irvine, CA for 8 – 12 weeks starting in June 2026 (no relocation stipend, must be local).
  • Hands-on C++ programming experience (coursework or projects required)
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Experience with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Experience writing or debugging automation scripts
  • Interest in DevOps, software tooling, or embedded/flight software
  • Curiosity about aerospace systems and real‑world software workflows

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to C++ flight software components through small features, updates, or debugging tasks
  • Assist with organizing and preparing software repositories
  • Help configure and validate automated build and test pipelines
  • Run test cases and troubleshoot basic pipeline, build, or scripting issues
  • Write small scripts (Python/Bash) to automate routine engineering tasks
  • Document processes, configurations, and tool changes
  • Collaborate closely with Flight Software engineers during stand‑ups and code reviews
