About The Position

X-Bow Systems is looking to fill a Flight Termination System Responsible Engineer position to shepherd the qualification, certification, and operation of launch vehicle Flight Termination Systems (FTS). As an FTS engineer, you will have the key role to oversee and perform RCC 319 compliance, qualification testing, regulatory body certification, integration, and test.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with RCC 319 and experience interface with range flight safety
  • Experience supporting programs across the entire lifecycle in aerospace, defense, or similar industries
  • Skilled in collaborating with interdisciplinary technical teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
  • Strong grasp of systems engineering fundamentals, with the ability to execute and apply these fundamentals in support of this position
  • Familiarity with environmental testing procedures (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, etc.)
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment

  • Familiarity with key launch vehicle systems which require similar capabilities, including:
  • Avionics (Flight Computers, Navigation Hardware, Power, etc.)
  • Ordnance
  • Ordnance Initiation
  • Telemetry
  • Cabling

Responsibilities

  • Develop the FTS architecture and tailor regulatory body specifications, specifically RCC 319, with federal and commercial launch ranges, vehicle systems engineers, and other stakeholders
  • Source components from external suppliers and oversee the procurement and vendor qualification process
  • Define requirements and designs for internally developed components when necessary, partnering with electrical and mechanical engineers
  • Establish environmental test requirements, devise test plans and procedures, and conduct testing to validate FTS components in partnership with test engineers and stakeholders
  • Determine verification methods, gather verification evidence, and produce documentation confirming compliance with tailored regulatory requirements for relevant government bodies
