About The Position

FlightWave, a subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill a Drone Assembly Technician position. We are a dynamic and growing drone technology company focused on the manufacturing of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations. In this role, you will build, test, and repair drones and associated hardware. The ideal candidate will have a background in assembly and test of electronic systems, such as drones, robotics products, or professional electronics, including experience with circuit level assembly and debug.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware assembly, and/or installation.
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity.
  • Skill in hand soldering and PCB rework operations.
  • Flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of production and R&D project priorities.
  • Excellent technical communication skills and writing skills, including drafting manufacturing documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
  • Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or similar flight control systems
  • Prior experience supporting structured flight test or engineering test programs
  • Familiarity with GCS tools like QGroundControl or Mission Planner
  • Basic knowledge of telemetry systems, log analysis, or test instrumentation
  • Military or government flight operations experience is a plus
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environments.
  • Familiarity with running command line interfaces for programming and test operations.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience in inventory management procedures and kitting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble drones, mechanical subassemblies, and electronic subassemblies.
  • Create and refine production documentation, including writing assembly instructions and test procedures.
  • Support system level testing activities and flight operations.
  • Work closely with engineers to provide feedback on system performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Maintain detailed records of flights, test results, and any discrepancies.
  • Prepare UAS platforms for flight, including pre-flight inspections and setup of ground control equipment.
