About The Position

This position offers flexible coverage and support across our Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City clinic locations. The role involves being on standby to transition between facilities as needed to address temporary staffing gaps or variations in patient volume. The Patient Care Representative will handle a range of medical front office responsibilities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations at each site. Additional salary is in lieu of mileage being paid.

  • High school diploma or GED with two years of office experience OR at least one-year post-high school course level work with one year of office experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Similar experience in the medical front office (including knowledge of managed care insurance, CPT­, and ICD-coding, cashiering, and appointment scheduling.
  • Experience with electronic health records (Allscripts preferred).
  • Experience with practice management software (Allscripts PM preferred).
  • Experience with telephone customer service on a multi-line phone system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by maintaining friendly/professional interactions with patients.
  • Computerized appointment scheduling via telephone and face-to-face, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Performing data entry of over-the-counter charges and payments.
  • Handling patient registration and certification of patient demographics.
  • Verifying all patient information at the time of each scheduled appointment.
  • Setting up medical records.
  • Assisting in retrieving medical records as needed.
  • Assisting in filing and maintaining medical records.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Assists in emergency situations that affect all Family Medicine centers or clinics and may include staffing other Family Medicine clinics as needed.
  • Assists other clinical staff upon request.
  • Cross-trained in all front office processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
