Department: CC017020 Clinical Lab Job Description Summary: Position Responsibilities Communicates at shift change and follows through on pending orders or issues from previous shift. Reviews Quality Control. Reports significant deviations to the manager. Documents corrective action. Organizes work to maximize productivity and efficiency. Determines specimen acceptability and priority, taking action accordingly. Orders and maintains an appropriate inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure adequate patient care and minimize costs. Recognize and take corrective action when equipment failure occurs. Oversees proficiency testing. Ensures that testing is rotated among staff, results are submitted on time, flagged items are investigated and corrective action documented. Orients new employees to the laboratory, conduct inservices, assesses competency of staff and annual safety training. Assumes responsibility for adequate staffing. Adjusts schedules and workstation assignments as needed. Handles problems with patient care or special requests from medical staff or pathologists. Teach and train staff or students as assigned. Demonstrate the ability and willingness to assess the situation and determine an appropriate course of action, such but not limited to, covering workstations when needed. Performs charge tech duties in the absence of on-site supervisor/manager. Responsible for maintaining flow cytometry instruments. Proficient in sample preparation, data acquisition, and software analysis such as Kaluza Analysis Software, to analyze cell populations and biomarkers accurately. Operates advanced flow cytometry instruments to analyze cell populations based on fluorescent markers, enabling detailed immunophenotyping and cell sorting for clinical diagnostics. Develop complex antibody panels to analyze multiple cellular markers, enhancing the resolution and accuracy of immunophenotyping Proficient in utilizing advanced data analysis to perform multiparametric analysis, gating strategies, and generate high resolution visualizations critical for immunotyping and cell sorting. Mastery of software algorithms and data normalization techniques to directly improve reproducibility and insights into cell population dynamic. Able to lead the development, validation, and implementation of new assays. Proficient in all aspects of flow cytometry including technical, quality, and regulatory issues. Communicates and documents any unusual occurrences or deviations from routine operations in the Communication Log or to the supervisor/manager. Performs all other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Medical Technologist by the State of Florida in appropriate specialties.
  • Education Commensurate with licensure requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in specialty
