About The Position

Duncan Family Farms is looking for a curious, detail-driven Food Safety Field Researcher Intern to join our team! This isn’t your typical internship—you’ll be out in the field collecting real data, supporting food safety research, and helping improve practices that impact both our farms and the agricultural industry as a whole. If you’re passionate about food safety, love problem-solving, and want real-world experience (not just lab theory), this is for you.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Microbiology, Food Safety, Food Science, Agriculture, or related field
Basic understanding of microbiology or environmental sampling
Strong interest in food safety and agriculture
Ability to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings
Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy
Organized and able to manage your time well
A strong communicator (written & verbal)
A critical thinker who enjoys problem-solving
A team player who values collaboration
Professional, reliable, and eager to learn

Nice To Haves

Have previous internship, lab, or research experience
Are familiar with aseptic techniques or environmental sampling
Enjoy analyzing data and solving problems
Are interested in a future career in Food Safety or Agricultural Research

Responsibilities

Collect environmental samples (water, soil, plant tissue, surface swabs) using proper aseptic techniques
Help design and set up field-based monitoring systems
Support installation and maintenance of data collection tools
Map and document sampling locations with precision
Organize and summarize data into clear, meaningful reports
Assist with field trials and experimental design
Partner with our Technical Services team on research and improvement projects
Follow all food safety and workplace safety standards
