About The Position

The Food Service & Housekeeping Assistant position supports the food service and lodging at Echo Grove camp by ensuring clean, safe, and welcoming dining, kitchen and guest areas. This position assists with meal service and beverage preparation, maintains sanitation standards, supports inventory and supply management, and performs routine housekeeping duties in guest rooms and common areas. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to health and safety standards, and flexibility to work varied schedules in support of daily & seasonal operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Must be able to properly lift at least 30 pounds
  • Basic computer skills
  • Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as needed
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain dining areas, including tables, condiments, beverage stations, and salad bars.
  • Serve meals as directed by the Food Service Manager.
  • Prepare beverages (coffee, tea, milk, juices, pop) and maintain related equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen and dining areas, including spills, floors, and surfaces.
  • Wash dishes using dish tanks or manual methods as needed.
  • Assist in unloading, storing, and monitoring inventory of food and supplies.
  • Adhere to proper dress and hygiene standards while on duty.
  • Assist in any other kitchen/dining tasks as assigned.
  • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and meeting spaces.
  • Change bed linens, replace towels, and restock room supplies.
  • Dust, polish, vacuum, sweep, mop, and maintain all room and common area surfaces.
  • Conduct thorough room inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Collect, wash, fold, and return linens and towels, monitoring inventory levels.
  • Empty trash and recycling in all areas and ensure proper disposal.
  • Lift, move, and store food, supplies, and equipment safely.
  • Operate kitchen and housekeeping equipment according to safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, food contact surfaces, and restrooms.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends and long shifts as required (up to 12 hours).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Food Service and Housekeeping operations.

  • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
  • You will receive up to 2 personal days per year based on date of hire.
