About The Position

Provides leadership in the de v e lop m e nt and the coordination of the Food Service Program for the Meskwaki Settlement School.

Requirements

  • Experience in food service management
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent c o mmun i c a tion, pro b l em s o lving and organization s k il l s
  • Knowledge of federal a nd state guid e li n es rela t i ve to food service
  • Knowledge of and experience in food preparation including quantity food production, storage, and handling techniques
  • Knowledge of and experience in organizing an effective ordering/receiving system
  • Knowledge of program p l anning and budgeting
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and mana g e budgets
  • Must have skill in using public relations techniques to promote school food service to school and non-school groups
  • Knowledge to operate all kitchen equipment in their designated center
  • Must have ability to lift 45 lbs. (not maneuver) and be able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Must have ability to handle and withstand hot and cold temperatures (within reason)
  • D e monstrated ability to motivate and s uperv i se s taff
  • Demonstrated history of dependability and work ethic
  • Must pass background check

  • Oversees all submissions related to tribal as well as federal, or state grants and reports
  • Plans , assigns, a nd i n s p e c t s work of all food service employees

  • Purchases a nd maintains an inventory of a ll fo o d s, su p p l i es, a nd e q

  • Supports the ordering of food needed for various programs directly or indirectly related to the Food Service Program
  • Makes purchasing decisions with sound economic, environmentally, nutritionally conscious thinking in mind
  • Standardizes p r i ces charged for va r i o u s ty p es of lunc h - S t a n d ard i zes caf et e r i a accounting p roce d u r es
  • K eeps pr o g r am records as n e e d e d or r e qui r e d . This includes the accounting of all associated finances
  • S ubmi t s all r e p o r t s r equi r ed b y tribal, s tate, or federal authorities , as well as the business office, School B o ard, or the Superintendent
  • Pla n s menus and supervises t h e pr e p a r ation a nd s e r v i n g of mea l s at all s c h o o l
  • Assists in coordinating and supervising of special events for the school when the foodservice will be used. Some of these events will include culture nights, concessions, conference nights, banquets, and Pride Week, etc
  • Keepspatronsandthepublicinformedofthemenusandservicesofferedbytheschool cafeteria as well as t h e health and educational benefits ga i ned by children t h rough participation i n t h e s c hool food service program
  • Performs other tasks as delegated by school administration
