About The Position

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is an agency dedicated to serving those who served U.S. We are seeking a motivated, dynamic individual to join our team. Our skilled nursing facility boasts a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Food Service Administrator and ensure that food is stored, prepared, distributed and served under sanitary conditions. Maintain dish room, serving area, dining room, and food storage areas in an orderly and sanitary condition. Completes assigned cleaning tasks. Assist in the preparation of meals as assigned, pull and pre-prep foods as assigned, help set up, and serve all meals. Knowledge and performance of the equipment, procedures and techniques used in cooking, baking, and/or meat cutting. Ability to read and follow recipes and/or other instructions. Record all temperatures in the temperature book (food and equipment). Report any faulty equipment to the supervisor. The Food Support Worker will place food items on serving lines and keep serving line well stocked. The Food Support Worker will maintain, check and control kitchen inventory to determine quantities available as well as amounts needed for operations. Assist with purchase requests for food, cleaning supplies, utensils, pots, and pans. Dishes and paper products in the kitchen. Verify incoming shipments and receipts in the absence of stock person. Check in and put away stock off the trucks. Rotate stock throughout (dry storage, refrigerators, and freezers). Assure you all equipment is turned off properly and that all doors are locked at night prior to leaving. Keep chemical room clean and organized with everything off the floor. Keep all hand soap and paper towel dispensers filled throughout the kitchen and food service restroom. Attends in-service training and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, if necessary.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.

  • Experience working in dietary at a long-term care facility.
