About The Position

Amentum is seeking a FORACS Electronics Engineer - Test Group to support the NATO FORACS project in West Palm Beach, FL. The NATO FORACS project's Mission is to provide NATO maritime forces with the opportunity to undergo comprehensive calibration of sensor, weapon, combat, communication and navigation systems to clearly defined accuracy and performance standards. The project operates under the umbrella of the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC). AUTEC supports Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. The FORACS Electronics Engineer is responsible for supporting sensor accuracy testing on U.S. and NATO surface ships, submarines, and helicopters for the AUTEC Project.

Requirements

  • BS in an engineering, technology or science field.
  • Six years of RDT&E or similar experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 10 years of experience in the operation, maintenance and testing of Naval Sensor Systems.
  • Applicant must be able to participate in tests on board all types of navy vessels.
  • Applicant must be able to lift and carry material up to 50 lbs.
  • Applicant must be able to climb stairs/ladders.
  • Applicant must be able to deploy to sea on navy ships and submarines and operate equipment from range support working craft.
  • Applicant must be able to work in tight spaces and work at heights.
  • Applicant may be required to travel to locations away from headquarters 25% - 50% of year, depending on testing schedule.
  • Applicant must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Applicant must have or obtain a valid U.S. passport.
  • Applicant must be able to deploy to locations with limited medical facilities for short duration.
  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • U.S. Navy surface ship, submarine, and helicopter navigation and target sensor systems (radar, sonar, fire control, navigation, etc.) knowledge highly desirable.
  • Experience in conducting complex data analysis.
  • Experience authoring Test Reports.
  • Familiarity with naval shipboard operations, terminology, customs, traditions, and protocol.
  • Knowledge of acoustics theory, RF propagation theory, GPS tracking systems or computer networking.
  • Advance skills in Microsoft Office – including Word and Excel.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support testing of installed sensors on surface ships, submarines and helicopters.
  • Provide engineering support to Test Engineer group.
  • Review testing methodologies for suitability to achieve sensor-testing criteria.
  • Coordinate testing with shipboard personnel to achieve goals of the designated test.
  • Verify, install and operate specialized test equipment to support testing.
  • Monitor shipboard and NFA personnel in sensor-system setup and operation to ensure data collected accurately reflects sensor performance.
  • Analyze data and produce reports in a timely manner to designated recipients.
  • Supervises the conduct of sensor testing in a real-time test environment, ensuring testing is completed in accordance with established Test Procedures.
  • Installs, configures and operates specialized data collection and analysis computer network to support real time data collection.
  • Ensure data entry into specialized data collection and analysis system meets data collection standards, including validity of data and operation of shipboard and target generation systems.
  • When assigned, support engineering changes, prepare engineering change documentation, supervise/perform equipment modifications, and verify new equipment.
  • Conduct special studies and prepare technical reports regarding equipment performance and improvement.
  • Interfaces with naval personnel (officers and enlisted) to achieve goals of the designated test.
  • Participates in the development of specifications for new equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
