About The Position

Under minimal supervision of the Production Coordinator, the Foreman - Production acts as a leader and can handle the most complex of duties. The Foreman - Production is responsible for safety, equipment, personnel, inspection, and assistance in overall production operations. This is a leadership position which supervises a team of Lease Operators and analyzes and solves production-related problems while mentoring Lease Operators to do the same. The Foreman - Production ensures oil and gas production are maximized and operating costs are optimized to meet or exceed the goals of the company. This position leads the continuous improvement of the local safety culture and is accountable for the team’s safety performance and environmental stewardship. This role requires impeccable integrity and the ability to instill strong and positive team morale. The Foreman - Production is an integral leader in the South Texas field and offices out of Carrizo Springs, Texas.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic team player capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision to meet sensitive deadlines and production goals.
  • Work in temperatures between -20 and 100+ degrees Fahrenheit on a seasonal basis.
  • Strong working experience and knowledge to operate wells with a complete understanding of all equipment and processes.
  • Coordinate, plan and execute short and long-term work tasks to meet production and LOE goals, while working across multiple well routes.
  • Train, mentor, and increase the skill level of less experienced operators in all aspects of their duties.
  • Working knowledge of oil/gas production operations, including surface equipment, surface electrical and electronic controls, gas flow measurement.
  • Willingness to take and apply advanced training in all areas of artificial lift and production operations.
  • Knowledge of downhole operations.
  • Understand and safely operate pigging facilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe work behavior and habits.
  • Proficient to advanced computer skills to work with Microsoft Office, eVin, CygNet.
  • Maneuver heavy objects and operate machinery.
  • Creative individual, capable of analyzing and solving mechanical problems.
  • Operate a vehicle safely (in all weather conditions) to drive to oil & gas equipment locations located in rural/open range country. Work will be performed in hazardous driving and working conditions in all seasons of the year.
  • Understand the safe operation of valves and facilities operating under high pressure/temperature.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers, business associates.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ Oil and Gas Lease Operator experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering, accounting, completions, construction, EH&S, planning, land and regulatory to improve operations, accurately account for production, reduce operating expenses, implement new technology and reduce safety and environmental hazards.
  • Assist Production Coordinators with overall maintenance and operation, supervising production operations including operator activities and general maintenance, as well as field measurement for accurate reporting.
  • Maintain compliance, in conjunction with and through close coordination with the Production Coordinators and EHS Department, for all regulatory, environmental and safety issues.
  • Participate and be a leader in EHS processes and proactive safety program. Each company employee is expected to provide quality observations that help improve our operations. Team members are also required to report any unsafe or dangerous activities immediately. Act with responsibility and exercise authority to stop unsafe work by employees, contractors, or any other personnel on Jonah operated sites. Lead team members to do the same and create a culture where inquiry and Stop Work Obligation are welcomed. This culture is a primary mitigating factor in our daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all ranch/landowner policies.
  • Operate and perform advanced trouble shooting on wells, production equipment, compressors, and artificial lift systems.
  • Support and maintain all Company policies.
  • Secure and maintain in good order all Jonah-issued equipment, including but not limited to computers, vehicles, tablets, and phones.
  • Supervise Lease Operators (including performance management), roustabouts’/service crews on proper work and procedures when needed.
  • Assist in maintaining good relations with vendors, contractors, landowners, and the community.
  • Assist in and provide feedback to Surveillance team during variance meetings. Will use this symbiotic relationship to record variance, weekly activities, and specific job execution.
  • Ongoing supervision and optimization of compression, facilities, and gathering systems.
  • Recognize and identify problems and fix them to meet company financial production goals.
  • Ensure operator team performs any and all maintenance tasks needed to keep all equipment running properly.
  • Provide field-wide contact with all personnel in the event of emergency or other significant occurrences.
  • Align priorities and results with Jonah Energy asset goals.
  • Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

  • Own the spending within area of accountability. Report and provide feedback on daily/weekly/monthly operating expenses. This position may also be required to submit monthly accruals for specific categories. Review, validate, challenge, approve daily spending through approval systems (e.g. Open Ticket, Open Invoice, and/or other invoicing software).
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned to support the success of the department and company.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of direct reports, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations. Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of team deliverables. Oversee day-to-day operations and workload distribution within the team. Support employee development through coaching, training, and career growth opportunities. Address performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment aligned with company values. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
