Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university required and at least one (1) year of directly related experience.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required and individual must be insurable by BGHNC carrier.
  • While regular work schedule is during business week, position may require some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Individual in this position must provide 24-hour accessibility, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.  Must be willing to provide consultation and support for Foster Care Social Worker Staff.
  • Must be able to demonstrate all the technical and program skills required of a Foster Care Social Worker Staff as well as those skills required of a foster parent.
  • Assist with teaching the Journey curriculum for foster parents.
  • Ability to build relationships with other professionals and therapeutic foster families.
  • Advanced technical writing skills required.
  • Advanced treatment planning and behavior analysis skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years experience preferred of working with emotionally and behaviorally disturbed youths and their families.
  • Teaching Family Model of Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, technical consultation and related support services to assigned foster parents.
  • Supervise and assist foster parents with intake, treatment planning and all facets of program operations, including proper implementation of  the Journey and Teaching Family Model of Care.
  • Serve as conduit between assigned foster parents and BGHNC administration.
  • Fulfill a specified annual service delivery plan involving on-site, in-home observations, behavior management, treatment planning sessions and telephone consultation for assigned foster parents.
  • Assist in intake and aftercare in assuring maximum census potential in assigned foster families.
  • May assist with foster parent recruitment and selection.
  • Assist with some facets of foster parent and adoptive parent training (pre-service, in-service, advanced training program, etc.).
  • Assist with all facets of foster parent professional evaluations.   Serve as in-home evaluator; participate in data analyses, assists with writing and general report preparation.
  • Provide written monthly information on service delivery plan implementation to the Director of Foster Care and/or Chief of Community Based Services Officer.
  • Provide 24-hour emergency consultation and support to assigned foster parents and back-up emergency consultation to other foster parents.
  • Model appropriate moral, ethical, professional values for youths, colleagues and community-at-large.  Abide by the Standards of Ethical Conduct of NCARCCFS.
  • Support foster parents by attending court, meeting with other agencies & professionals, providing foster children with transportation to visits and appointments as needed.
  • Will assist with the Journey and TFM training when in your area or assigned by your supervisor.
  • Have professional relationships with the DSS agencies and GAL program.
  • Keep all foster children files updated to meet the state and COA standards.
  • Advocate for the services foster care children may need.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Foster Care, Chief of Community-Based Services Officer and/or the CEO.
