Fractional COO/ Small Business Advisor
About The Position
How to Manage a Small Law Firm (HTM) helps entrepreneurial attorneys run their firms like real businesses. Many lawyers are exceptional legal professionals but have never been taught how to lead, scale, or operate a business efficiently . We work with firms scaling toward and through $10M–$30M in revenue , where operational systems, process discipline, and leadership execution are critical. The Role We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee and optimize the operational side of our clients’ law firms. As COO, you will: Lead operational strategy and execution across multiple law firms Build systems for scalability, including team structure, workflow optimization, and vendor management Coach attorneys on operational discipline, execution, and performance accountability Track KPIs, monitor growth metrics, and present actionable insights to owners Oversee projects and initiatives that improve efficiency and profitability This is not a traditional operations role . You will act as a strategic partner and coach , helping law firm owners implement operational systems that support growth from $10M–$30M in revenue .
Requirements
- MUST HAVE 10+ years experience as a COO or senior operations leader
- Have experience helping businesses scale from $10M to $30M in revenue
- Are comfortable coaching business owners and enforcing accountability
- Thrive in a remote, client-facing leadership role
- Have excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Building scalable operational systems for service-based businesses
- Leading cross-functional teams and improving workflows
- Managing vendors and operational partners effectively
- Using data to drive operational decisions
- Experience with small-to-mid-size service businesses scaling rapidly
Responsibilities
