About The Position

Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, PC is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) skilled, motivated, reliable and experienced Front Desk individual to join our team in St. John. This is a fast-paced, growing practice and candidates must be a team player, self-starter, be able to multi-task and be highly motivated. Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager of Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, position has duties and responsibilities for communication and coordination of general patient inquiry, registration, insurance verification, and scheduling processes, which includes locations in St. John, and Lowell, Indiana. Further responsibilities include the areas of general clerical support and communication within the medical, clinical, and business operations of Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Duties and Responsibilities: Greets and welcomes all patients, customers, vendors, and colleagues in a clear and friendly voice. Obtains all necessary patient demographic and insurance information prior and concurrently while communicating during the registration/verification process. (Check –in process) Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistants to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of exam rooms. in accordance to their insurance provider’s requirements. (i.e. pre-certification, identification verification, etc.) Explains to patient what information they need to bring with them for the appointment (i.e. insurance card, medication list, x-rays, MRI, etc.) Obtains co-payments and or prepayments and records appropriately to patient’s account as per established procedure. Accurately creates, (i.e. flags, phone notes, alerts etc) and or files all reports and communications that are deemed a part of the medical record accordingly, to include but not limited to scanning of patient information into or processing of health information data as appropriate. Accurately records requests for medical records/information and conveys information correctly to the appropriate GLO colleague. Correctly processes data after each patient visit and records appropriately. (Check-out). Participates in patient reminder calls and no-show follow-up calls and monitoring on a routine basis. Receives and conveys messages accurately and transfers call to the appropriate colleague and or voicemail accordingly. Conducts pre-certifications to ensure eligibility and benefits are in order for accurate claim submission and payment. Maintains excellent customer relations at all levels of communication with confidentiality and privacy of all data, records, forms, and reports at all times. 1. Must be a high school graduate and or/ GED equivalent with at least one year experience in a physician practice/business setting. 2. Experience in communicating effectively with patients/public in general. 3. Demonstrated PC literacy and ability to learn new computer-based processes. The primary worksite will be Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in St. John may need to travel to Lowell Indiana. Conditions may be stressful at times.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate and or/ GED equivalent
  • At least one year experience in a physician practice/business setting.
  • Experience in communicating effectively with patients/public in general.
