Front End (UX) Design Engineer

Obin AINew York, NY

About The Position

We're hiring for a UX Design Engineer who can bridge the gap between creating new design (Figma / AI prototyping) and implementing intuitive, functional interfaces. This is a hybrid role for a designer who codes—someone who can not only envision the user journey, but jumps into the frontend (React) to implement. You’ll join our team as one of our earliest hires, working directly with the founders (ex-Google) and other AI Engineers. You’ll be: Building a Scalable Design System Own the creation and maintenance of our visual language for our applications. You’ll build a reusable component library that balances aesthetic excellence with the functional requirements of data-heavy financial applications. Translating Customer Pain Points into Prototypes Work directly with stakeholders at major financialfirms to map out their current manual workflows. You will transform these insights into interactive prototypes that demonstrate clear product value. Bridging Visual Design and AI Logic Work closely with other AI Engineers to translate complex LLM outputs and RAG-driven data into clean, high-fidelity visual components. You’ll ensure that sophisticated technical backend logic feels simple and trustworthy to the end user. Leveraging Agentic Tools for Development Integrate AI-assisted development into your daily process to accelerate frontend delivery. Setting Design-Engineering Standards As the founding design engineer hire, you will define how Obin bridges design and frontend engineering. You’ll set the bar for our user experience (UX). We believe the best products are built by people who can operate across the full stack of the user experience, combining a sharp eye for detail with the technical ability to ship it.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in UX/Product Design with a deep expertise in Frontend Engineering.
  • Strong intuition and great taste in building trustworthy UX for enterprise users
  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered coding agents to build and deploy production-ready code.
  • Direct experience building user interfaces for AI/ML products, specifically handling challenges like streaming text, multi-step agent reasoning, and model transparency.
  • Strong visual design skills coupled with the ability to translate those designs into responsive code.
  • Hunger to iterate fast and own outcomes—you’d rather ship a functional feature and quickly iterate to solve for friction than spend a week debating different choices.
  • Clear communication, especially when bridging the gap between design intent and technical constraints.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with user research and UX evaluation.
  • Background in Fintech, credit systems, or enterprise risk management tools.
  • Experience building custom internal tools or "agent playgrounds" to help AI engineers evaluate model outputs visually.
