Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical billing or front office administration.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance processes and billing software.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Compassionate demeanor with a passion for mental health care.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in medical billing or healthcare administration is a plus
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office, preferably in billing or administrative support
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
  • Working knowledge of medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., AAPC or AHIMA)

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Process insurance claims and verify patient eligibility efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and billing documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and audits.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely billing and collections.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and insurance representatives.
  • Stay updated on insurance policies and billing regulations.
  • Support front office operations as needed to enhance patient experience.
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims (electronic and paper) accurately and in a timely manner
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients
  • Review and correct claim errors or rejections (follow up with insurance carriers)
  • Assist with posting payments (insurance and patient payments) into the billing system
  • Communicate with insurance companies and patients to resolve billing inquiries or disputes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient account records
  • Assist in preparing monthly billing reports and summaries
  • Support the billing team with general administrative tasks including filing, scanning, and data entry
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all billing regulations
