In this position... Ford Motor Company vehicles with an internal combustion engine have a fuel storage and delivery system. The Fuel System Design Department executes the design, release, and testing of Ford fuel delivery systems. The components in the fuel system range from the filler neck to the engine including the fuel pump, delivery lines, level indication, and vapor management. Ford Diesel vehicles include the SCR system, water separation system, and fuel conditioning components. The team also does the fuel system design for the many Ford Hybrid vehicle applications. The fuel system design team is part of a larger Internal Combustion Engine and Thermal System Engineering team withing the Vehicle Hardware Engineering group.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the Ford D&R process
  • Strong knowledge of the Ford core engineering excellence process
  • Strong knowledge of Ford Fuel Systems
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering Excellence and Tech Club process
  • Experience in fuel system D&R
  • Experience in fuel system Core
  • History of developing a strong team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills (6 sigma, 8D, A4)
  • Strong presentation skills for management presentations
  • Ability to guide the team in evening, weekend, and holiday high priority situations

Responsibilities

  • Manage a department of about 65 people with responsibility for program deliver, quality, and cost improvement actions.
  • The position also covers core engineering that develops the FEMA, test methods, design rules, and requirements.
  • Oversee fuel system design for all Ford vehicles globally.
  • Ensure that all designs meet design rules, pass through the Design Verification, comply with requirements and regulations, and are able to be produced at volume with PPAP sign-off.
  • Lead potential recall discussions and durability failure discussions.
  • Oversee releases, issue resolution, sourcing actions, cost reduction actions, and quality issues.
  • Interact with the Ford supply base and the Ford vehicle teams.
