About The Position

As the Functional Fluids Chemist, you will oversee the Technical Service Program at the Gallipolis Ferry site. Evaluate results and reports according to specifications and customer inquiries. Provide additional testing as required. Position This Position Report To: •    QA/QC Manager    I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?  Plan, execute, and document lab experiments to develop, qualify functional fluids and improve existing products. Collect, interpret, and summarize experimental data to guide decision-making. Accountable for performance to Lab and Plant goals. Manage Tech Service samples and reporting in a timely matter.  Review Tech Service data generated to ensure accuracy prior to reporting.  Maintain accurate and timely analysis reports including entering data in various computer systems. Maintain FF laboratory equipment including routine maintenance. Complete daily SPC activities and use SPC principles and tools to identify problem areas and areas for improvement. Train other laboratory or plant personnel in analytical techniques and lab methods and equipment within the Tech Service area. Maintain and manage Tech Service database and customer reports. Provide technical assistance to Functional Fluid customers relating to analytical procedures. Maintain housekeeping standard including clean work areas. Adhere to plant policies, especially Safety Rules and proper PPE. Complete other projects as directed, and all other tasks/duties as assigned. Support production process improvement efforts. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • 3- 5 years working as a chemist.
  • Must possess user skills of SAP computer program.
  • Motivated and ability to accurately perform large number of tests in a laboratory setting.
  • Must have some understanding of regulatory terminology and forms.
  • Monday through Friday day position with rotating or fixed weekend schedule and some overtime depending on business needs.
  • May require up to 10% travel
  • Computer skills – MS Office, Outlook, SAP, SPC & Statistical, Custom Databases
  • Understanding of Quality systems including ISO 9000
  • Lead Investigations and make recommendations
  • Audit systems and performance
  • Understanding of Analytical Instrumentation (GC, LC, AA, ICP, pH meter, viscometer, spectrophotometer, colorimeter, densitometer, titrators, balances, resistivity meter, etc.)
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes and operations
  • Document results accurately and review documentation (labels, equipment, readings) and calculations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, analytical, and process problems

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a chemical manufacturing of Phosphate Esters.
  • Knowledge of NUPIC, FM and OEM requirements preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment along with managing multiple projects/priorities/tasks simultaneously.
