Furniture & Mattress Area Manager – Peoria, IL Schedule: Saturday – Wednesday, Thursday & Friday OFF Hours: 40-hour minimum workweek Mondays - Fridays: 9:00am - 7:00pm Saturdays: 9:00am - 5:00pm Sundays: 10:00am - 5:00pm Starting Wage: $20/Hour Plus Bonuses Stipend for being the Manager-on-Duty Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Insurance, Life Insurance, PTO, Employee Discount Program, and 401(k) plus matching after 1 year of service Sherman's: Proudly Not Normal Since '76 (and Counting!) Sherman’s is looking for a Furniture & Mattress Area Manager for our Peoria store — someone who can lead the team, create an exceptional customer experience, and help keep the showroom running at a high level every day. We know, we know. “Retail management” can bring up some… interesting assumptions. But at Sherman’s, we do things a little differently. Boring Desk Job? Nope! Our leaders are hands-on. Requirements

1–3 years of retail or sales leadership experience preferred.
A hands-on leadership style — you enjoy being on the floor supporting your team, not managing from the sidelines.
Strong coaching skills – you feel fulfilled when you help teammates grow.
High personal integrity and accountability — you follow through on commitments and hold yourself and others to strong standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A positive, team-first attitude and a passion for creating remarkable customer experiences.

Responsibilities

Selling in the floor rotation while setting the tone for a positive, high-energy team.
Coaching and developing the Furniture & Mattress team through regular feedback, impactful 1:1 conversations, and hands-on support.
Ensuring the department stays clean, organized, and well-merchandised while collaborating with the Merchandising team.
Owning the guest experience for your team — making sure every customer feels taken care of from the first hello to the follow-ups after the sale.
