GENERAL PURPOSE The Furniture Repair & Touch-Up Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and restoring stained and/or finished furniture components to meet established quality standards. This role focuses on identifying defects, performing skilled touch-up and repair work, and ensuring finished products meet or exceed company expectations. This position requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ownership of product quality. All work must be completed with a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Ability to acquire, within a six-month timeframe, a competent level of the skill knowledge required around quality and production standards.
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Must have excellent color acuity.
  • Ability to read, understand, communicate and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies and practices, etc.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals.
  • Willing to adapt to a continually changing environment.
  • Committed to team success through reliable attendance.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and stand for periods of up to 10-12 hours.
  • Ability to transfer up to 75 lbs. with the help of another person.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished furniture components to identify defects or damage and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Perform touch-up and repair work on wood, laminate, and metal components, including correcting finish defects, scratches, dents, or other imperfections.
  • Ensure repaired materials meet or exceed established quality standards.
  • Use hand tools and finishing materials to complete repair work effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicate quality issues and recurring defects to production team members and supervisors.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of product defects and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on proper repair and touch-up techniques when needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support production and business objectives.
