About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs duties that are instructional in nature or may deliver direct services to students or parents within a Future 2 campus operating under an innovative, experience-based instructional model. Serves in a position for which a teacher, learning coach, or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services. Assists with test administration. May provide specialized assistance for students with special needs. Supports teachers and learning coaches in facilitating mixed-grade cohorts, small-group instruction, and extended-day programming aligned to Future 2 design principles.

Requirements

  • Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall:
  • Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours) of college course work.
  • Possess an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
  • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a local academic assessment—Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) [formerly the TASP test], verifying knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Assists teacher(s) and/or learning coaches with student academic goals by working with small groups of students or individual students during instructional blocks, coaching sessions, and experiential learning activities.
  • Supports facilitation of structured discussions, collaborative work time, and performance-based tasks within mixed-grade cohorts.
  • Assists teacher(s) in the enforcement of classroom management systems and behavioral expectations that promote student engagement, accountability, and productive learning environments.
  • Assists with supervising students during breakfast, recess, lunch, dismissal, extended-day programming, special events, experiential activities, and campus programs.
  • Assists teacher(s) in the preparation of paperwork for the ARD/IEP process. Collects and enters data for completion of special education reports and documents.
  • Assists teacher(s) with the planning, preparation, and implementation of differentiated instruction and small-group supports for individual students and groups.
  • Supports student participation in experiential learning opportunities by reinforcing expectations, safety procedures, and engagement standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
