About The Position

To observe and protect The Saint Louis Art Museum's staff, visitors, building, collections, and contents to reduce the possibility of, and by their presence prevent, theft, fire, vandalism, or other hazards.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Must interact with Museum staff and visitors in a polite and courteous manner.
Must be dedicated to duty, possess good judgment and discretion, while being diligent in the performance of their responsibilities.
Attendance must be reliable and punctual.
Must be able to use a radio or similar communication device to receive and transmit information

Nice To Haves

Prior museum experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

Attend roll-call prior to shift for inspection and assignment; receive information pertaining to assignment of the day.
Participate in training in emergency procedures.
Comply with general orders, policies and procedures.
Make suggestions, convey observations and acquired information to his or her supervisor.
Firmly yet politely advise Museum staff and visitors of Museum policies.
Give directions and answer questions.
Constantly move through assigned area or observe from an assigned stationary location.
Maintain a neat personal appearance and meet uniform specifications.
Perform in drills and respond to emergencies as required by Museum policies and procedures.
Perform light custodial work as required for daily assignment. May be required to lift or carry items as part of this task.
Shall be required to work overtime as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Light computer use to obtain email and schedules for work.
