If you have fleet or dealership experience, please apply - we'd love to speak with you! The apprentice program gives diesel mechanics hands-on experience with light, medium and heavy trucks. Apprentice diesel mechanics will learn how to inspect, repair and maintain a diesel engine and its mechanical components. An apprenticeship prepares technicians for work as a diesel mechanic through training hours in a repair shop under an experienced mechanic, as well as more formal instruction in a classroom setting.

Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to handle, finger or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally the employee must kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally exert or lift to 75 pounds.
  • Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision.

Responsibilities

  • Documents actions by completing records.
  • Maintains quality service by following repair standards.
  • Maintains tools and equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe work environment by adhering to work standards and practices.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in hands on training and educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' specifications.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance Services (PM) and PM related repairs with supervision such as but not limited to oil changes, change tires, balance tires, lube chassis, repair lights (trucks & trailers), adjust brakes, clutches, replace fan belts, etc.
