About The Position

Thunder Purpose within the Organization: The purpose of this position is to work under Spirit Programs to train and appear as Grand Canyon University’s (GCU) mascot, Thunder. Responsibilities Related to Purpose: Support and appear at all home men’s and women’s basketball games, men’s and women’s volleyball matches, men’s and women’s soccer matches, and other athletic contests. Support GCU Enrollment and Admissions, Student Affairs, University Relations, and other departments on campus with various projects that involve student involvement and community outreach. Work collaboratively with other Spirit Programs. Qualifications: Has a love and passion for GCU and desire to be involved on campus. Outgoing personality & teachable spirit where you will embrace learning the character of Thunder. Highly motivated and interested in GCU athletics, school spirit, and campus involvement. Must have strong time-management skills and work well with others as a team. Must have strong integrity and character in order to keep the identity of the mascot anonymous. Must be available to work during Fall, Winter and Spring Break. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment: Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program. Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student. Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University. You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
