About The Position

The Gelcoat Technician is responsible for applying gel coat to the mold using an atomized spray gun process system.

Requirements

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• A minimum of one years’ experience with mil gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

• Prior gel coat and/or autobody experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read work orders and maintain paperwork/logs of work performed.
• Apply gel coat on hull and deck parts based on production order specifications.
• Selects appropriate gel color, adding catalyst as needed.
• Must possess the ability to use proper spray equipment to apply gelcoat using appropriate settings, valves, and nozzles.
• Must possess a general understanding of the concepts of air-assisted equipment as they relate to gel-coat application.
• Assist in manually moving molds into/out of the gel-coat booths
• Maintain gel coat equipment as specified by leadership.
• Must practice good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean at all times.
• Ability to perform job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while wearing all required PPE and following safety policy and hazardous material guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
