General Laborer - Brownsville
About The Position
SMS Shipbreaking, LLC is one of the few approved ship recyclers in the nation and also handles the dismantling and recycling of oil drilling rigs and oil production platforms. An industry prioritizing recycling and environmental/workers’ safety and handling all operations with integrity. SMS in Brownsville, TX is seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused General Laborer. Roles and Responsibilities Responsibilities may include but not limited to cleaning and preparing for a project, loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines, such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers and water spraying equipment. May be asked to set up and/or take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structure Ability to remove electrical equipment, cables, wood and fibers of all kinds and properly dispose of material Ability to properly drain and empty out equipment that may contain liquids Ability to load and unload baskets, containers, boxes and/or trucks Knowledge of and adherence to safety requirements in a scrap yard environment, including use of proper PPE Perform any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must pass employee physical and drug screen.
- Ability to walk more than 1000 yards
