About the position

Boise Cascade has an exciting opening for a General Line Product Manager! The General Line Product Manager will purchase, price, and market a group of general line products for warehouse and customer sales. This role involves developing and implementing sales strategies, new products, promotions, and conducting sales presentations on assigned general line products. The General Line Product Manager will monitor and maintain acceptable inventory levels, turnover, and margins to maximize branch profitability. They will solicit direct and warehouse sales on all general line products and work closely with the location manager or location sales manager in the promotion of assigned and new products. Additionally, they will maintain direct control over replenishment, pricing, and inventory of assigned products, change prices as necessary, and maintain catalogue price pages. The role also includes developing an annual marketing plan incorporating vendor, division, and product promotions, maintaining technical product knowledge, determining product market potential, identifying and evaluating competitive products, new markets, new product opportunities, and competitors. The General Line Product Manager will work closely with division merchandising in the selection of suppliers, maintain customer relationships, quote prices, sell additional products, assist the operations manager in warehousing assigned products, and make presentations at dealers' meetings, sales meetings, builder shows, etc. A strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement is essential. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with division merchandising in selection of suppliers.

  • Assist operations manager in warehousing assigned products.
  • Make presentations at dealers' meetings, sales meetings, builder shows, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience in related job function.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer software applications necessary for performing job responsibilities.
  • Typically more than seven (7) years in building products industry or general line sales.
