About The Position

The General Maintenance Engineer III ("Ingeniero/a de Mantenimiento I") assists to ensure equipment, physical plant, and property are maintained properly so that equipment operates at optimum levels. The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa is a Polynesian-themed destination located on the shores of Mission Bay and mere steps from San Diego’s famous Pacific Beach. The resort features 310 rooms and suites, lush tropical gardens, and award-winning dining at Oceana Coastal Kitchen. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus 2 years technical training or 2 -4 years of college.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • Must have an unexpired and valid driver's license with no recent violations.
  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced plumbing experience a plus.
  • Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and hardware repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, repairing fixtures, servicing AC units and lighting).
  • Monitor, test, and maintain fire alarm, life safety, sprinkler, and emergency power systems; respond appropriately to related emergencies.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations to ensure guest and associate safety and minimize operational disruption.
  • Conduct routine inspections, read meters and gauges, and maintain accurate daily logs of work performed and system readings.
  • Identify and report opportunities for energy conservation and efficient utility usage.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and engineering work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures and proactively correct hazardous conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding work orders, materials, and project updates; assist with training team members as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
