About The Position

Friends University is seeking to fill the General Maintenance & HVAC Technician position in Wichita Kansas. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various mechanical systems, with a focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across campus. Including operations of a central heating plant utilizing steam and/or hot water for tempering or heating building, and a central chilled water plant to provide cooling to campus buildings. Work hours are typically 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. May be required/requested to travel to off-campus sites as needed. On-call duty on a rotation basis. Working special events (graduation, homecoming, etc.) is required and 2nd shift as requested. Requirements

Two year’s HVAC experience is required
three year’s general maintenance experience is desired.
A high school diploma or equivalent
EPA 608 Type Universal Certificate License to handle refrigerants is required.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme hot and cold working conditions, loud noise environments; lift 100 pounds; walk and/or stand for long periods of time, and climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Working in the boiler room requires being exposed to non-weather wet, humid conditions and extreme heat; working inside freezers requires being exposed to extreme non-weather cold.
Position also requires work in high, precarious places, exposure to noxious odors, loud noises, airborne particles, vibration, and electrical shock.
A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
A motor vehicle report will be run to verify insurability and to become an approved driver by the University’s insurance carrier.
