The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs. We’re hiring a General Maintenance Lead to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park! Job Summary: The General Maintenance Lead provides support to the Director of Engineering. They will perform routine preventative maintenance inspections, oversee and execute repairs in guest rooms and resort buildings. They also serve as Working Lead for the General Maintenance Staff and provides support to all trades. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Season Dates: As soon as possible on next available start date (approximately 3 weeks) Pay: $22.50/hr Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why the Oasis at Death Valley? Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • At least 3 years experience in general maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, A/C, carpentry, painting, thorough inspections, plumbing.
  • High level of professionalism, able to follow instructions with follow-up, respect, and integrity.
  • Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed directions, and provide clear instructions/directions.
  • Basic skills such as: attention to detail skills, reasoning skills and multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis is required.
  • Full range of physical motion is required to operate manual and electrically-powered tools.
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder up to 40-feet from ground level.
  • Ability to enter and work in all confined areas; crawl spaces, attics and manholes.
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of standing, stooping, and bending on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments within extreme temperatures, noise and dust

Nice To Haves

  • Any technical, extended training and/or vocational certificates a plus.
  • Forklift Certified within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security and safety of all job sites and work areas for self, fellow workers, staff, guests and any other person(s) possibly affected during performance of assignments.
  • Perform all assignments as directed by the Director of Engineering assuring safety, quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness. Capable of working independently.
  • Maintain a spirit of cooperation within the department and throughout the property.
  • Completes daily inspections and maintenance on assigned buildings and rooms.
  • Repair door locks to maintain building and/or room security per Risk Management standards.
  • Inspects room A/C filters on a regular schedule and determines if cleaning or replacement is warranted.
  • Verifies accuracy of records for inspections and preventative maintenance work executed.
  • Work hours, shifts, overtime and on-call shifts as required and/or assigned by supervisor.
  • Support keeping equipment in good working order.
  • All other duties as assigned.
