About The Position

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional performance in their role, upholding Forbes 5-Star standards, and embodying the property’s Core Values. This position ensures the property's facilities are well-maintained and fully operational, contributing to a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff. By providing prompt and effective maintenance solutions, the General Maintenance Technician contributes directly to the property’s reputation for excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in a relevant trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Strong knowledge of various maintenance disciplines, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to guest service.
  • Soft skills or personality traits aligned with Forbes 5-Star standards: professionalism, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by business needs.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions, including noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment, facilities, and systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and support hotel operations.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks and inspections to identify and resolve potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Support brand standards and guest experience by ensuring all areas of the hotel are well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
