About The Position

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of the hotel. This includes driving financial results, ensuring guest satisfaction, maintaining brand standards, leading team development, and overseeing all departments including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Engineering. The GM serves as the face of the hotel and ensures alignment with Hilton brand standards, ownership goals, and market positioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • 5–10+ years of hotel leadership experience
  • Previous General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience in a full-service or Hilton-branded hotel preferred
  • Strong experience in F&B operations (important for DoubleTree)
  • Financial acumen (P&L, budgeting, forecasting)
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Guest-centric mindset
  • Knowledge of Hilton systems (OnQ, R&I, LightStay preferred)
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving
  • Labor relations experience (especially valuable in union environments)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily hotel operations across all departments: Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing
  • Ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards and SOPs
  • Conduct daily stand-ups, MOD coverage, and property walkthroughs
  • Maintain high service quality and operational efficiency
  • Drive top-line revenue (RevPAR, ADR, occupancy)
  • Manage profitability (GOP, NOI) and expense controls
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor labor productivity and payroll vs. revenue metrics
  • Analyze STR reports and competitive market trends
  • Partner with Director of Sales to: Drive group, corporate, and transient business, Maximize occupancy and rate strategy, Lead revenue meetings and pricing strategies, Build relationships with local businesses and demand generators in Houston market
  • Ensure high guest satisfaction scores (e.g., SALT/Medallia)
  • Respond to escalated guest issues and service recovery
  • Maintain strong online reputation (Google, Hilton channels)
  • Recruit, train, and develop department heads and staff
  • Foster a positive work environment and culture
  • Ensure compliance with: Labor laws, Company policies, Union agreements (if applicable)
  • Handle employee relations, coaching, and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with: Health & safety standards, OSHA regulations, Fire/life safety systems
  • Maintain asset protection and security protocols
  • Act as primary liaison with ownership group
  • Provide regular reporting on: Financial performance, Capital needs, Operational updates
  • Execute asset management strategies
