About The Position

The General Manager Production – Ready to Eat (RTE) is responsible for directing, training, and holding supervisors accountable across all operational functions within the RTE Department at the Vicksburg Plant. This role leads end‑to-end execution of RTE production operations while ensuring safety, food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and strong Team Member engagement. This position is accountable for operational performance including safety, food safety, quality, yields, attendance, discipline, turnover, absenteeism, workers’ compensation, bid movement, Team Member morale, and RTE area readiness. The General Manager serves as a key member of the plant leadership team and ensures all RTE processes, equipment, and environments support uninterrupted, compliant, high‑quality production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role OR 2+ years of Tyson supervisory experience.
  • Basic computer skills required (e.g., Workday, production documentation, reporting).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and Team Members.

  • Responsible for all RTE production operations at the facility, including: Managing all RTE supervisors RTE production schedules and product flow CCP verification schedules Engagement in Safety Reviewing and developing leaders and addressing performance deficiencies
  • Must be able to access all areas of the RTE production floor to conduct audits and inspections, including use of fixed ladders, stairs, and steps.
  • Ability to tolerate environmental conditions in assigned areas; temperatures may range from 28°–45° Fahrenheit.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with RTE or further‑processing operations preferred.
  • HACCP certification or working knowledge of HACCP principles preferred.
  • Knowledge of fresh or fully cooked meats processing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and train supervisors in all facets of RTE operations, including production paperwork, yields, product flow, scheduling, time and attendance, discipline, motivation, turnover reduction, absenteeism management, safety, and problem solving.
  • Maintain accountability for daily RTE production execution and adherence to production schedules.
  • Oversee RTE supervisors’ departments, ensuring proper staffing, labor utilization, and continuous product flow.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, product movement, and compliance with RTE food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain accountability for safety, food safety, quality, workers’ compensation, and regulatory performance across all RTE areas.
  • Ensure understanding and application of HACCP principles, including CCP monitoring, verification, and documentation.
  • Oversee CCP verification schedules and ensure compliance with USDA, Tyson, and regulatory food safety requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Safety teams to ensure RTE operations meet all regulatory and customer expectations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and managers; identify and address performance gaps through training and accountability.
  • Maintain responsibility for Team Member morale, engagement, bid movement, and turnover mitigation.
  • Support discipline processes and ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Motivate teams and lead problem‑solving initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain accountability for key performance areas including safety, food safety, quality, yield, labor efficiency, turnover, absenteeism, and RTE area condition.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and walkthroughs across all RTE areas.
  • Identify operational, people, or process issues and drive corrective actions to sustainable closure.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and strengthen food safety culture.
