About The Position

Shodair Children’s Hospital seeks a Genetic Counselor to provide counseling, risk assessment, and education for patients across Montana. This role includes outreach travel and close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).
  • Active Genetic Counselor license in Montana and any additional states as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide genetic counseling in clinic and outreach settings.
  • Collect and interpret medical, family, and psychosocial histories.
  • Coordinate and interpret genetic testing.
  • Educate patients on risks, recurrence, and testing options.
  • Document all care in the EMR and produce counseling reports.
  • Deliver genetics education and develop patient materials.
  • Connect families with appropriate resources.
  • Participate in research and uphold all ethical and regulatory standards.
