About The Position

Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore. Golden Queen Employees live in several surrounding communities such as Boron, California City, Lancaster, Mojave, Palmdale, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Tehachapi, and Victorville. Mojave is known as the city of “Golden Crossroads” because it is located at the nexus of the California Highways 14 and 58. These crossroads are a gateway to the destinations of commerce and tourism in the San Joaquin Valley, Mammoth, the Eastern Sierras, Las Vegas, the Eastern Mojave Desert, and the Los Angeles Basin. You thrive working outdoors and are results-driven, quick to learn, and a dependable team player. You can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards. With experience in the Microsoft Office Suite, you have intermediate proficiency in both Word and Excel. You prioritize safety, adhering to worksite, OSHA, and MSHA standards. You contribute effectively as a valuable team member. This is a safety sensitive position. As the Geology Technician, you report to Exploration Geologist.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a proactive safety leader, adhering to safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Collect, prepare, and transport chip samples, drill cores, and special samples according to protocol, ensuring accurate labeling at each stage for laboratory processing.
  • Receive, organize, and label drill core upon delivery.
  • Wash, clean, and dry core prior to geologist’s logging.
  • Measure and record core recovery and RQD (if required).
  • Mark sample intervals as directed by the geologist.
  • Bag, tag, and label samples following QA/QC procedures.
  • Prepare duplicates, blanks, and standards as required.
  • Verify sample numbers, depths, and consistency with logging records.
  • Assist with core photography and file organization.
  • Stack and store core trays safely.
  • Assist with core moves, audits, and inventory tracking.
  • Mitigate risk by adhering to safety regulations and work procedures.
  • Enter, update, and manage sampling data using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) templates.
  • Perform tasks safely in accordance with MSHA policies.
  • Follow the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Field-based or core facility environment.
  • May involve shift work and extended hours during active drilling.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and cutting equipment.
  • Physical Strength: Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and moving up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Responsible for cutting drill core using a diamond blade wet saw and/or manual core splitter, bagging, and tagging core samples.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
