About The Position

Here we grow again!! ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking several GIS Technicians, (all Entry-level) to join our team supporting the Census Bureau in Suitland, MD. US Citizenship is required as is CURRENTLY residing in the Maryland/Virginia/DC area.If you have graduated with a certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS or a related field that taught ArcGIS Pro, BUT have not been able to find a position since graduating, this is a great way to get your "foot in the door!"ASRC Federal offers an excellent benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement, certification reimbursement and more. This program offers a remote work schedule but requires residing in the DC/MD/VA metro area. This position will be focused on tasks related to maintaining accuracy and completeness of the Census MAF (Master Address File)/TIGER (Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing System) Database (MTDB), required changes to boundaries, streets, and addresses are identified and digitized as needed primarily through Census proprietary software.

Requirements

US Citizenship and presently residing in the DC/MD/VA area. (If you reside outside of the area, you will not be considered for these positions).
Certificate in Cartography or GIS, an Associates degree in Geography or GIS, or a Bachelor's degree in Geography or GIS (will consider other degrees such as Environmental Science).
Coursework/ project or labs with ArcGIS (workstation and desktop); Arc View, AutoCAD Map.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Some knowledge of civil engineering, cartography surveying and drafting.
Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Imagery, and understanding of Databases.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Ability to share GIS knowledge with other team members.
Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

This is a direct position in GIS data enhancement and maintenance using ESRI and custom GIS software.
Evaluate, edit, and check street centerline, hydrography, and other data layers (graphics and attributes), using custom map production tools.
Using computer software will include revisions and edits of GIS drawings and files.
Edits made according to the instructions provided by the supervisors.
Additions or deletions of highlighted boundary or shape files
Reading instruction provided with the shape files
Reshaping road layers that should not be over lapping with the Hydro layers
Maintaining live spatial data in a secured environment.
Editing, modifying, and creating various data layers.
Will maintain daily production schedule and work with customized data automation tools and procedures
