GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY & ANALYTICS MANAGER

SELECT EVENT GROUP INCSouth Laurel, MD
6d$85,000 - $90,000Onsite

About The Position

Select Event Group is seeking a forward-thinking Geospatial Technology & Data Analytics to bridge the gap between precise field data collection and actionable business intelligence. This role requires a candidate capable of managing physical drone operations and site surveying while simultaneously driving the company’s technology strategy through AI integration and workflow automation. Core Responsibilities Key Duties & Operational Tasks AI Integration, Data Analytics & Automation You will own the strategy for "where and how" AI and data are utilized across the business to drive decision-making and enhance client experience. Client Workspace Portal: Develop and manage an overlay client workspace portal. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a centralized digital platform where clients can access project data, visualizations, and status updates. Predictive Financial Modeling: Utilize data to understand P&L drivers by cross-referencing site logistics with financial performance. Specifically: Analyzing recurring builds (e.g., LIV Golf events) to determine if cost variances are driven by external factors (weather, site conditions) or internal factors (PM efficiency). Workflow Automation (Python/Scripting): Lead the standardization of practices across projects by automating repetitive tasks. This includes writing Python scripts to automate the "Field-to-CAD" pipeline, reducing manual data entry, and accelerating the delivery of basemaps to the design team. Operational Intelligence & Bottleneck Prevention: Use data to identify drivers of variance—such as weather, client indecision, or project management—to predict and prevent site bottlenecks. Enterprise AI Strategy: Serve as the internal owner for AI adoption. This includes evaluating and implementing new AI tools for generative design, automated feature extraction, and general business process optimization. Digital Twin & Advanced Visualization: Lead the development of Digital Twins, 3D visualizations, and Virtual Venue Modeling. Drone Operations, Surveying & Geospatial Processes This role develops and leads drone surveying, ground control, GNSS/RTK mapping, geo-referenced modeling, mark-out operations, and as-built measurement for large-scale event sites — ensuring that every drawing and layout is accurate, build-ready, and aligned with design systems. This role is defined by two high-level functions that guide all daily activities: Primary Function: Managing conducting, processing, and integrating all spatial and geospatial data that underpins event overlay design, planning, and construction. Secondary Function: Supporting the development of Select Overlay’s Surveying Department lifecycle, including process automation, workflow optimization, and standardization of practices across projects. On-Site Execution: Coordinate and or perform on-site drone operations, site mark-outs, and precise site surveying to feed the overlay design process. As-Built Documentation: Create accurate as-built records to verify event setups against plans. Fleet & Equipment Management: Manage the drone fleet, survey gear, and RTK/GNSS equipment to ensure operational readiness. Airspace & Compliance: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), accuracy workflows, and airspace compliance strategies. Freelance Oversight: Facilitate field-to-office coordination and potentially oversee a freelance pilot pool in the future. Professional Growth & Mentorship: Foster a culture of continuous learning through consistent mentorship, coaching, and feedback. Support career growth by aligning individual career goals with opportunities at Select, providing leadership development and ongoing education resources. Proactively identify and close skill gaps through cross-training, targeted development plans, and effective new-hire training programs. Lead by example with a growth mindset—acknowledge mistakes, model learning, and encourage the same in your Team. Embody a championship culture that recognizes and rewards achievements to reinforce a results-driven, positive culture that values discretionary effort and process simplification. Engage in assigned professional development such as readings, projects, and meetings with active participation. Provide candid feedback to each team member around their status member (positioned for growth, well-positioned, and red dots), and rank team periodically with corporate leadership.

Requirements

  • Geospatial Software: Deep experience with ArcGIS and QGIS (processing and management).

  • Drone Operations: Proven experience in drone data collection and airspace compliance.
  • Analytics: Ability to translate raw data into business insights (P&L analysis, logistics planning).
